Meet Your Paralympic LOCOG Team Part III
Over the past few weeks we have been profiling the people who will help Wheelchair Basketball run more smoothly at the London 2012 Paralympics. In this final post we profile the remaining LOCOG (local Organizing Committee) members.
Wheelchair Basketball Sport Equipment Group Leader/Handball Technical Operations Manager
Chris will join Justin as a Sport Equipment Group Leader for the Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball competition.
Chris joined LOCOG on January 2011 as the Handball Technical Operations Manager for the Olympic Games. He is from Greece and carries an event organising experience of more than 15 years including Olympic and Paralympic Games and World Championships. Chris is married with a 23-month old son who occupies much of his attention and affection. He enjoys reading, travelling, music and movies. An avid sports fan, Chris is a multisport athlete, participating in athletics, handball, water polo and archery on a competitive level, yet he’s always keen for a friendly basketball game.
Wheelchair Basketball Athlete Services Group Leader/ Canoe Services Manager
At the Paralympic Games Elaine will join Jo Richards as Wheelchair Basketball Athlete Services Group Leader, ensuring a high quality experience for all athletes and teams competing in London.
Elaine has been involved in elite sport in the UK for over 10 years, previously managing Talent Identification and Anti-Doping programmes at UK Sport, working at the Beijing Games in 2008, and also working for the English Institute of Sport. She has worked at LOCOG for the last 2 years as the Canoe Services Manager, planning for the delivery of the Canoe events at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Working in close consultation with the International Canoe Federation, she ensures that the 2 Canoe venues (Lee Valley and Eton Dorney) are fully prepared for the requirements of the sport and that the best possible environment, services and support are provided for the athletes, federation and technical officials.
